The Giclee Canvas is On Display
Jan/100
The giclee canvas is on display. When children get exposed to new art forms, you never know where it will lead. Take for example the students at the Steward School. They are so involved with the arts that when it came time for fundraising, they decided to get the local adult artists working with them.
They created a show of 21 artists, in many different media. Possible media to be seen are: giclee printing, canvas photo prints, stained glass, giclee canvas, and clay sculpture.
The parents seemed as excited about the show as the children. Everyone was enjoying see the work of the local artists.
Prices range from $160 to over $4,000, so many of the students will probably treat this more as a trip to the museum than to the mall.
Now, you may be wondering what the term “giclee” means. Giclee is a term which refers to making fine art prints from a digital source, usually by using a very expensive ink-jet printer. Some of you old-fashioned types may object to such a process, but after seeing one of these prints, you may find you change your mind. The quality is very good, with the “dots per inch” much higher than a standard, office ink-jet printer. And the colors are amazing. It is definitely worth having a look at.
